Safeguard Old State: Board of Directors
|Thomas A. Shakely – Founder & Chairman
Thomas A. Shakely is the founder of Safeguard Old State and a senior in political science at Penn State. In his role on the Safeguard Old State Board of Directors, he is responsible for mentoring the SOS Executive Staff.
Mr. Shakely is also active on campus as President & General Manager of The LION 90.7fm (WKPS). He served in 2006-2007 as an off-campus representative in the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA).
Gavin Keirans is the Penn State Student Body President as head of the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA). Mr. Keirans won office in what The Daily Collegian described as a “landslide.”
Mr. Keirans served in the now defunct Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and served in 2007-2008 as Executive Director of Safeguard Old State. He hosts a weekly radio show on The LION 90.7fm (WKPS).
Sean Clark graduated from Penn State University in 2003 where he earned a degree in political science and a minor in history. As an undergraduate, he presided over the now defunct Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate and co-hosted Radio Free Penn State on The LION 90.7fm (WKPS).
Mr. Clark works for the Foundation for Individual Rights In Education (FIRE) as Director of Finance & Operations. He resides with his wife in Philadelphia.
M. Taylor Rhodes graduated from Penn State University in 2004 with a degree in economics and political science. From 2002-2004, he served as Chief Justice of the now defunct Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Supreme Court.
Mr. Rhodes received his MA in applied economics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is currently studying towards his PhD in economics at the University of Virginia with a general interest in the history of economic thought, classical liberalism and Austrian Economics.
