Safeguard Old State has undertaken the “For The Glory … Know The Words” campaign as part of its ongoing mission to reconnect Penn Staters with the legacy and traditions of their Alma Mater.

For years, singing the school fight song has been a point of pride of University of Michigan fans. Now, as the Nittany Lions prepare to host the Wolverines for their 2008 Homecoming Game, Safeguard Old State is challenging Penn State’s student body, the “Best Student Section in the Country,” to rise to the occasion and proudly honor school, team, and coach by singing all the words to PSU’s best-known fight songs this Saturday.

Check back throughout the week for more, including a link to the “For The Glory … Know The Words” Facebook Group.

For now, check out the YouTube video and lyrics below! C’mon, State! BE HEARD at Homecoming 2008!

Fight on State, Fight on State,
Strike your gait and win,
Victory we predict for thee,
We’re ever true to you, dear old White and Blue.
Onward State, Onward State
Roar Lions roar,
We’ll hit that line, roll up the score,
Fight on to victory evermore,
Fight on, on
On, on, on!
Fight on, on,
Penn State!

Every college has a legend, passed on from year to year,
To which they pledge allegiance, and always cherish dear.
But of all the honored idols, there’s but one that stands the test,
It’s the stately Nittany Lion, the symbol of our best.

HAIL! to the Lion, loyal and true.
HAIL! Alma Mater, with your white and blue.
PENN! STATE! forever, molder of men (and women),
FIGHT! for her honor — FIGHT! — and victory again.
