UPUA Referendum: Super-Secret Results?!?!

Editor’s Note: This blog post originally appeared on the website of “Safeguarding Traditions Of Penn State,” which was the precursor to Safeguard Old State. It appears here for posterity.

Nearly 18 hours after the vote, many are wondering why students don’t know the results of yesterday’s survey on the UPUA Proposal.

I just talked to Will Kerr at University Testing Services. He refused to divulge the results of yesterday’s survey, but stated that he gave the results earlier in the day to Andrew Reeve and Dr. Philip Burlingame, the Assistant VP of Student Affairs.

You might remember Dr. Burlingame’s quote in yesterday’s Daily Collegian where he endorsed administrative control over the student government. I’m not sure why Dr. Burlingame has these results, except that perhaps those who provide the funding for a UTS-survey also get to see the results…not to insinuate that there’s any Division of Student Affairs support for the UPUA (except for the $3000 in anonymous donations to “Students for Real Advocacy” that were raised through Dr. Stan Latta).

I would encourage everyone to contact Andrew and Dr. Burlingame at let them know that students deserved a fair vote, and they deserve to have access to the results as soon as possible.
