Penn State Features Graphic Novels at Paterno Library

Penn State Live published something that may actually turn out not to be purely propaganda in the form of “Graphic Novels: Not Just For Kids“. The video, which originally aired on WPSU, briefly chronicles the growth of cartoons into their new title of “graphic novels”. Apparently, as an interesting aside, Penn State employs a woman in the Paterno Library whose sole job it is to curate the Graphic Novel exhibits in the library.

Anyway, nothing overtly political about this; just a pleasant surprise to find something genuinely interesting and innocent among the articles and promotional items that otherwise litter Penn State Live, the university’s public relations propaganda outlet run by newly minted Vice President Bill Mahon.

What a neat exhibit. It’s nice to see that cartoons and comics appear to have finally grown up as “graphic novels”. Now if only Safeguard Old State could produce a graphic novel of all that’s going on here at Penn State and in the halls of Old Main. I don’t think there would be enough paper or ink in the world.
