Tuition Rally at Old Main Scheduled For Today At Noon

Penn State senior Alex Verget is going to be getting some company tomorrow at noon on the steps of Old Main. Verget is the one-man political machine who has been making local headlines for walking from Harrisburg to State College to highlight the problem of back-breaking tuition and fees.

n2280335175_30103.jpgTomorrow, hundreds are expected to join him at Old Main for an event being promoted on Facebook as “Rally for Change: Lower Tuition Now!” The Centre Daily Times reports on Alex Verget’s 90 mile journey: “An academic project about the intersection of social activism and religion, the 90-mile walk was inspired by history, he said. He cited campaign-finance reform activist Ethel “Granny D” Haddock and the biblical account of how Jewish slaves escaped Egypt.”

The LION 90.7fm will be having students from today’s Rally on Radio Free Penn State at 5pm to give a wrap-up of the rally and talk about what they think they might have accomplished so far. When you walk 90 miles across Pennsylvania, you’re certainly not apathetic.
