The Sentinel

An Eye on the Penn State Administration

Congratulations to THON

While there may be critics of THON, I must say that the amount of money that was raised is truly impressive. Moreover, I have never seen the Bryce Jordan Center so lively.

I’ll admit that I had my doubts that THON was going to past last year’s number of about 5.2 million, but I was proved wrong. 6.6 million dollars is an insane amount, and speaks to the willingness of donors to help support the cause.

During THON, I had the pleasure of doing live broadcasts for the Lion 90.7 FM. I was there at the beginning, and lucky for me, I was able to attend the unveiling of the numbers as well.

The way the Greek community comes together for this philanthropy event is something special. Last year I went on three canning trips but was unable to attend the dance marathon.

I never thought I missed out until I actually attended this year. As of now I have a new respect for those willing to dedicate their time to a cause so great.

On a previous blog by Hillary Gupta, a comment was left by Mr. Sinatra asking about the usage of the funds. There were definitely some valid questions brought up by Mr. Sinatra and ones that need answering.

At the same time, in regards to the students who were involved, you clearly put in an enormous amount of time and effort this year. It truly showed and I was glad to be able to attend.

To the next THON Overall, good luck. 6.6 million is a huge number to beat.
